Trump campaign launches 'Big Lie' fundraising drive using false election fraud claims
Starting November 7, 2020, Trump and his allies publicly asserted without evidence that the election was stolen through widespread fraud. The January 6 Committee found Trump's own advisors — including campaign manager Bill Stepien and Attorney General Barr — told him the fraud claims were false. The committee concluded Trump knowingly used the false claims to raise approximately $250 million in "election defense" funds, most of which were not spent on election challenges.
