Trump escalates pressure on Pence to reject or delay electoral vote certification

Two days before the electoral count, Trump met with Vice President Pence and attorney John Eastman and escalated pressure on Pence to either reject certified electoral votes from contested states or delay certification so state legislatures could appoint alternate electors. Eastman presented a two-page memo arguing Pence had the constitutional authority to do so. Pence's counsel Greg Jacob immediately told Eastman the theory was legally wrong. The pressure campaign continued through the morning of January 6.
