China Soybean Deal Reached but Farm Export Damage Persists

China agreed to purchase at least 12 million metric tons of US soybeans in late 2025 and committed to buying 25 million metric tons annually through 2028 as part of a broader trade truce. However, analysts at Civil Eats and the American Farm Bureau noted that structural market damage persisted, as Chinese buyers had built lasting procurement relationships with Brazilian suppliers during the tariff dispute. US soybean farmers faced a slower-than-expected market recovery even with the deal in place.
