Rep. Grijalva becomes 218th signer of Epstein discharge petition; Senate passes transparency act unanimously, Speaker Johnson blocks House vote
Rep. Adelita Grijalva (D-AZ), sworn in after winning her late father's seat, signed the discharge petition led by Reps. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Ro Khanna (D-CA) to force a House floor vote on the Epstein Files Transparency Act. Speaker Johnson had delayed seating Grijalva — prompting an Arizona attorney general lawsuit — to prevent the petition from reaching 218. On November 19, the Senate passed the Epstein Files Transparency Act by unanimous consent, but Johnson moved to kill the House vote by routing the bill through a fast-track process requiring a two-thirds supermajority rather than a simple majority.
