Trump deploys ICE agents to 13 airports as TSA callouts hit record during DHS shutdown
President Trump deployed Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to 13 major airports on March 22 to supplement TSA screening as the DHS shutdown pushed callout rates to 55% at some facilities and wait times above six hours. ICE agents received no TSA training in passenger screening procedures. Airports affected included Chicago O'Hare, Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson, and New York JFK. TSA had lost more than 450 officers to resignation since the shutdown began February 14.
