Trump claims threat of coming after opponents, supporter calls to kill Judge Chutkan

Hours after a magistrate judge warned Trump not to intimidate witnesses in his federal election case, Trump posted on Truth Social in all-caps: "IF YOU GO AFTER ME, I'M COMING AFTER YOU!" The DOJ asked Judge Tanya Chutkan to impose a protective order, citing the post as potential witness intimidation. One day later, on August 5, Texas resident Abigail Jo Shry called Chutkan's chambers and left a voicemail: "You are in our sights, we want to kill you. Trump doesn't get elected in 2024, we are coming to kill you." Shry was arrested August 17 and charged with threatening a federal judge. The incident demonstrated how Trump's social media threats translated directly into real-world violence threats against judicial officers.
