IRS contractor Littlejohn steals Trump's tax returns and records of more than 400,000 Americans

Charles Littlejohn, a contractor at Booz Allen Hamilton working inside the IRS, stole confidential tax return information from Donald Trump, Trump businesses, and approximately 405,000 other individuals and companies between 2018 and 2020. Littlejohn provided Trump tax data to The New York Times and ProPublica, and shared broader records of the wealthiest Americans to ProPublica, which published a landmark 2021 series revealing that billionaires like Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk paid federal income taxes at lower effective rates than many middle-class workers. The theft constituted the largest known data breach in IRS history.
