Obama and P5+1 partners sign JCPOA with Iran, limiting uranium enrichment in exchange for sanctions relief over Netanyahu's objections

The United States, France, Germany, the UK, Russia, China, and the European Union signed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action with Iran on July 14, 2015, in Vienna. The deal required Iran to reduce its enriched uranium stockpile by 97%, to 300 kilograms, and limit enrichment to 3.67% — sufficient for civilian power but not weapons. In exchange, the US and its partners agreed to lift nuclear-related sanctions. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had addressed a joint session of Congress in March 2015 to oppose the deal, calling it dangerous and warning it would ultimately lead to war.
