Saudi Aramco facilities attacked, Trump deploys 3,000 troops to Gulf

Drone and cruise missile attacks struck Saudi Aramco's Abqaiq and Khurais facilities, knocking out 5.7 million barrels per day of Saudi production. Houthis claimed responsibility. The US and Saudi Arabia blamed Iran. Trump authorized release of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve and deployed 3,000 additional troops to the Gulf. Trump stated the US was "locked and loaded" pending verification. Secretary Pompeo called it "an act of war" against Saudi Arabia.
