Gregorio Eduardo Casar (born May 4, 1989, Houston, TX) is a Democratic U.S. Representative for Texas's 35th congressional district, serving since January 2023. The son of Mexican immigrants, Casar worked as policy director at the Workers Defense Project before winning a seat on the Austin City Council in 2014, where he served District 4 from 2015 to 2022. He won election to Congress in 2022 and was reelected in 2024, defeating Republican Steven Wright. Casar chairs the Congressional Progressive Caucus and serves on the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
