Donald John Bacon served 29 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Brigadier General after commanding wings at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska and Ramstein Air Base in Germany. He won Nebraska's 2nd Congressional District seat in 2016 by defeating Democratic incumbent Brad Ashford and has represented the Omaha-area district since January 2017. Bacon sits on the Armed Services and Agriculture committees, ranks among the House's most bipartisan members as part of the Problem Solvers Caucus, and announced in June 2025 that he will retire at the end of the 119th Congress in January 2027.
