Edward Espenett Case (born September 27, 1952, in Hilo, Hawaii) is a Democrat serving as the U.S. Representative for Hawaii's 1st Congressional District, covering urban Honolulu from Makapuu through Central Honolulu and Leeward to Mililani, Waipahu, Ewa, and Kapolei. A graduate of Williams College (BA Psychology, 1975) and UC Hastings College of Law (JD, 1981), Case practiced law at Carlsmith Ball in Honolulu for nearly two decades before entering elected office. He served four terms in the Hawaii House of Representatives (1994-2002), where he became Majority Leader in 1999. He first entered Congress in November 2002 through a special election to fill the seat of the late Rep. Patsy Mink, representing Hawaii's 2nd District through January 2007. After an unsuccessful U.S. Senate bid in 2006, he returned to Congress in January 2019 to represent the 1st District. Now in his sixth full term (119th Congress), Case serves on the Committee on Appropriations (Defense and Homeland Security subcommittees) and the Committee on Natural Resources. He is Vice Chair of the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus.
