Alabama Goodyear Tire plant supervisor who discovered after 19 years that she had been paid significantly less than male colleagues doing the same job. The Supreme Court ruled 5-4 in Ledbetter v. Goodyear (2007) that she had waited too long to sue under Title VII. Congress passed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act in 2009 — the first bill President Obama signed — resetting the clock on pay discrimination claims.
