Mike Carey (born March 13, 1971, in Sabina, Ohio) is a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives serving Ohio's 15th Congressional District since November 4, 2021. He won a special election to replace Steve Stivers, who resigned to lead the Ohio Chamber of Commerce. Before entering Congress, Carey spent over 20 years in the energy industry as vice president of government affairs at Murray Energy Corporation and American Consolidated Natural Resources, and as president of the Ohio Coal Association. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1989 to 1999. Carey holds an A.S. in Economics from Marion Military Institute and a B.A. in History from Ohio State University. In the 119th Congress, he serves on the Ways and Means Committee, the Budget Committee, and the House Administration Committee. He lives in Columbus, Ohio, with his wife Meghan and their two sons.
