Secretary of State Marco Rubio designated UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese under IEEPA sanctions, calling her "unfit" for her role and accusing her of "biased and malicious activities" against the U.S. and Israel. Albanese had publicly criticized U.S. policy on Israel''s military operations in Gaza. The sanctions froze any U.S.-based assets and restricted her travel and financial transactions in the United States.
