Nevada Civics Standards
Nevada's 2018 Academic Content Standards for Social Studies define K-12 expectations across Civics and Economics, US History, and World Geography and Global Studies. The required Civics and Economics course covers the structure and functions of US and Nevada state government, constitutional principles and individual rights, political participation and elections, the relationship between civic and economic systems, and Nevada-specific governmental institutions. Standards embed C3 Framework-influenced inquiry skills — constructing compelling questions, gathering and evaluating sources, and taking informed action — alongside content knowledge. Nevada law requires standards-aligned social studies instruction across all grades, though the state does not mandate a separate USCIS-based graduation civics test.
