North Dakota Social Studies Content Standards for Civics and Government (2019, Revised November 30, 2023). Grades 6-12 banded together with some topics overlapping middle/high school and others exclusive to each level, allowing district autonomy in curriculum mapping. Repeated topics taught at developmentally appropriate level. Emphasis on foundation, role, and impact of government; changes in government over time; and continual balance between individual rights and common good. Includes guiding topics column with suggested essential subject matter to help students reach standards. Part of seven-strand framework with six strands for all K-12 students: Civics and Government, Geography, Economics, North Dakota Studies, United States History, and World History.
