Rhode Island Social Studies Standards (2023) - major revision from previous Grade Span Expectations to grade-specific standards. Covers four domains: Civics, History, Geography, and Economics with anchor standards applying across all grade levels and five distinct high school courses. Emphasizes civic ready graduates with strong knowledge of history, democratic processes, citizens rights and responsibilities, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, empowered to actively advocate and participate in their community. Social Studies Curriculum Framework published early 2024 to guide high-quality curriculum implementation.
