Anita Dunn reveals consensus against assessments citing "no political benefit"

Ron Klain gave a closed-door interview to House Oversight staff on Jul. 24, 2025.

Anita Dunn testified in a voluntary, closed-door session on Aug. 7, 2025 and told investigators that Biden's aides discussed, and arrived at a decision against, administering a cognitive test to the president. Reporting cites anonymous sources familiar with the interview.

Dr. Kevin O'Connor declined to answer multiple questions and invoked legal protections, including the Fifth Amendment, during his deposition in Jul. 2025.

Anthony Bernal and Annie Tomasini each invoked their Fifth Amendment rights during committee subpoenas or depositions, according to reporting in mid-Jul. 2025.

Several outlets report the committee probed the White House's use of an autopen to execute documents. The committee has questioned whether the autopen was used more broadly than standard practice, but public reporting does not show a judicial finding that autopen use violated law.

Press accounts say the White House team considered avoiding a 2024 Super Bowl interview. Some sources say that concern related to special counsel Robert Hur's report; others say the decision happened before the report's release.

civic monitoring

Monitor House Oversight Committee contempt proceedings and DOJ referrals regarding Biden cognitive testing cover-up

Anita Dunn and Ron Klain testified before the House Oversight Committee in summer 2025 about decisions not to seek cognitive testing for President Biden. Dunn testified August 7, 2025 that Biden 'aged physically' but remained 'fully engaged' and made all important decisions. The Committee's October 2025 report 'The Biden Autopen Presidency' alleged aides concealed Biden's mental decline and exercised presidential authority without authorization. Chair Comer sent referrals to DOJ and D.C. Board of Medicine.
