22 attorneys general form legal coalition arguing federal overreach violates constitutional limits

On February 4, 2025, twenty-two state attorneys general formed a legal resistance coalition to challenge Trump administration policies as violations of state sovereignty and the Tenth Amendment (Rhode Island AG coalition announcement; AG constitutional arguments).

On March 24, 2025, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced clawbacks of more than $11 billion in federal health funding, including nearly $400 million for New York, prompting New York Attorney General Letitia James to file suit (NY AG health funding lawsuit).

On March 25, 2025, nineteen state attorneys general filed a federal lawsuit to block President Trump’s election‐overhaul executive order, arguing it exceeded constitutional limits on executive power (NY AG election lawsuit).
