Trump backs independent Democrat over Republican nominee to block progressive from winning NYC mayoral race

President Trump posted on Truth Social on Nov. 3, 2025, urging New York City voters to back Andrew Cuomo over Curtis Sliwa and warning that a vote for Sliwa would help Zohran MamdaniZohran Mamdani.

Andrew Cuomo served as New York governor from 2011 until his resignation in Aug. 2021 amid sexual‑harassment allegations and controversy over his administration’s handling of nursing‑home COVID‑19 deaths. Cuomo ran in 2025 as an independent after losing the Democratic primary.
