Treasury records show $1.08B in Epstein transfers, probe stalled

Senator Ron Wyden reviewed a Treasury Department file that lists 4,725 wire transfers totaling $1.08 billion. Those transfers moved through a single Jeffrey Epstein bank account between 2003 and 2019. The file also shows hundreds of millions in additional transfers through other accounts linked to Epstein and associates.

The Treasury Department declined to give Wyden a copy of the full file despite his requests. Wyden has asked the Justice Department and the FBI to open criminal investigations into the transfers. He has also urged federal banking regulators to review possible Bank Secrecy Act violations.

The Treasury records do not publicly identify every named beneficiary or prove criminal conduct. They do not provide public evidence tying the transfers to a specific political figure such as former President Donald Trump. Independent fact-checkers caution against assuming intent or beneficiary without subpoenas or corroborating records. Totals and account links may change as investigators subpoena bank records and take sworn testimony.
