Rep. Paul Gosar posts anime video depicting himself killing Rep. AOC House censures him

On November 7, 2021, Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) posts an edited anime video on Twitter and Instagram depicting him killing Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) with swords and attacking President Biden. The video, edited from the anime series "Attack on Titan," shows a character with Gosar's face slashing a giant figure with Ocasio-Cortez's face superimposed on it, then swinging two swords at a giant with Biden's face. Gosar's caption reads: "Any anime fans out there?" Ocasio-Cortez says: "This is not a coincidence. This is using his official resources to target a member of Congress." Gosar deletes the posts on November 9 after bipartisan condemnation. House Republican leadership — Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy — refuses to discipline Gosar. On November 17, 2021, the House votes 223-207 to formally censure Gosar and strip him of his two committee assignments — only the 24th censure in House history. Only Reps. Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) vote with Democrats. Gosar is unrepentant; he reposts the video within hours of the censure vote.
