President Obama signs the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, the first legislation of his presidency. The law restores the ability of workers to sue for pay discrimination by restarting the statute of limitations with each discriminatory paycheck, overturning the Supreme Court's decision in Ledbetter v.
