Jan. 6 Committee Releases 845-Page Final Report
The House Select Committee released its 845-page final report documenting the causes of the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol. The report presented evidence across seven chapters covering Trump's false election fraud claims, the fake electors scheme in seven states, John Eastman's plan to pressure Vice President Pence, Trump's 187 minutes of inaction during the attack, the role of extremist groups including the Oath Keepers and Proud Boys, and the structural failures in congressional oversight that allowed subpoenas to go unenforced against Mark Meadows and other senior White House officials. The report called for 11 legislative recommendations including closure of the Electoral Count Act gap.
