Jan. 6 Committee Holds Final Prime-Time Hearing: 187 Minutes of Inaction

The Jan. 6 committee held its final prime-time hearing focused entirely on the 187 minutes Trump spent in the White House dining room watching television while the Capitol was under attack. The committee showed text messages from Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Donald Trump Jr., Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity, and Brian Kilmeade all pleading with Mark Meadows to get Trump to act. Pat Cipollone, former White House Counsel, testified that he repeatedly urged action and was told Trump did not want to call off the mob. The committee concluded that Trump's failure to act was itself a criminal dereliction of duty.
