RFK Jr. Confirmed as HHS Secretary

The Senate confirmed Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Secretary of Health and Human Services on a 52-48 vote, with three Republicans — Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, and Mitch McConnell — voting against confirmation. Kennedy had pledged to restructure the department and eliminate what he called bureaucratic excess, including consolidating agency functions under a proposed American Health Administration. His confirmation set the stage for the administrative reorganization attempts that Congress later blocked through Section 238 of H.R. 7148.
