Addison Mitchell McConnell III was born February 20, 1942, and serves as the senior United States Senator from Kentucky. McConnell served as Senate Republican Leader from 2007 to 2024 and is the longest-serving senator in Kentucky history. He stepped down from leadership after the 2024 election and now serves as chairman of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee and the Rules Committee.
