Board of Peace envoy warns Gaza division could become permanent
Nickolay Mladenov, the Board of Peace envoy for Gaza, warned the U.N. Security Council that Gaza's territorial and political division could become permanent if the ceasefire process remained stalled. Reuters reported that more than 2 million people were crowded into less than half of Gaza while Israel maintained control over large parts of the territory. Mladenov cited Hamas disarmament and civilian transition as barriers; critics and Hamas argued the report minimized Israeli ceasefire violations, restrictions on aid, and military control. The event belongs under the Israel-Gaza War tag because it marks a governance and reconstruction breakdown, not just diplomatic rhetoric.
