Supreme Court strikes down the IEEPA tariffs 6-3
The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that IEEPA does not authorize the president to impose tariffs, striking down the Liberation Day and trafficking tariffs. Chief Justice Roberts wrote that two words in the statute could not bear the weight of an unlimited tariff power. The Court left the question of refunding the roughly $133.5 billion already collected to the lower courts.
