Brian Babin is a Republican U.S. Representative serving Texas's 36th Congressional District since January 2015. A dentist by profession, Babin practiced general dentistry in Woodville, Texas for over 35 years before entering Congress. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1975 to 1979. Before winning his House seat, Babin held multiple local and state government positions, including Mayor of Woodville (1982-1984), President of the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (1981-1987), and member of the Lower Neches Valley Authority (1999-2015). In the 119th Congress, Babin chairs the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee, where he focuses on U.S. space exploration leadership and reducing regulatory barriers to scientific progress. He also serves on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. Babin co-chairs the Congressional Border Security Caucus and has pushed legislation on immigration enforcement, including a bill to eliminate automatic birthright citizenship for children born to undocumented parents. Born March 23, 1948, in Port Arthur, Texas, Babin and his wife Roxanne have five children and seventeen grandchildren.
