Brendan Boyle represents Pennsylvania's 2nd Congressional District, covering Northeast Philadelphia, North Philadelphia, and parts of Center City, and serves as the Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee and a member of the Ways and Means Committee. The son of an Irish immigrant SEPTA janitor and a school crossing guard, Boyle became the first in his family to attend college, earning degrees from the University of Notre Dame and Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. He first won election to Congress in 2014 after serving three terms in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, where he became the first Democrat ever elected in his Northeast Philadelphia district.
