Jodey Arrington represents Texas's 19th Congressional District, a sprawling West Texas region centered on Lubbock and Abilene. First elected in 2016, Arrington chairs the House Budget Committee in the 119th Congress, where he steered the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act" (H.R. 1) through committee and to House passage in May 2025 by a 215-214 vote. Before Congress, he worked in the George W. Bush White House as a presidential personnel advisor, served as one of the youngest chiefs of staff in FDIC history at age 28, helped coordinate $120 billion in Gulf Coast rebuilding after Hurricane Katrina, and later returned to his alma mater Texas Tech University as vice chancellor. Born March 9, 1972, in Plainview, Texas, Arrington announced on November 11, 2025, that he would not seek reelection in 2026, citing his belief that public office should be "a temporary stint in stewardship, not a career."
