Mark Eugene Amodei (born June 12, 1958, in Carson City, Nevada) is a Republican U.S. Representative serving Nevada's 2nd Congressional District since September 2011. He won a special election on September 13, 2011, to fill the vacancy left by Dean Heller's elevation to the U.S. Senate, and has been reelected seven times. A U.S. Army JAG Corps veteran who earned the rank of Captain, Amodei practiced law in Carson City and Reno before entering politics. He served in the Nevada Assembly (1996-1998) and Nevada State Senate (1998-2010), chaired the Nevada Republican Party (2010-2011), and served as President of the Nevada Mining Association (2007-2008). In the 119th Congress, he chairs the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security. On February 6, 2026, Amodei announced he will not seek reelection and will retire at the end of his current term in January 2027.
