Goldman and Raskin demand all documents mentioning Trump

Democrats tell Bondi to stop protecting Trump on Epstein files

Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) and Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) sent a letter to Attorney General Pam BondiPam Bondi on July 8, 2025, demanding the release of all Epstein investigation documents that mention or reference Donald Trump. They also demanded the full, unredacted Volume 2 of Special Counsel Jack Smith's report on Trump's classified documents case.

The letter told Bondi to stop protecting your boss and former client. Goldman and Raskin accused the DOJ of becoming President Trump's personal law firm, ensuring that damaging information about him would remain hidden from public view.

The letter came one day after the DOJ and FBI released a two-page memo on July 6-7 concluding there was no Epstein client list, no evidence of blackmail, and that Epstein died by suicide. The memo said investigators did not uncover evidence that could predicate an investigation against uncharged third parties.

Goldman had been building this case for months. On May 12, 2025, he sent a separate letter to Bondi asking whether the White House or Trump himself had intervened to prevent the release of the Epstein files. He pointed to the unexplained delay in releasing files, reports of FBI agents working overtime on redactions, and Trump's well-documented affiliation with Epstein.

Elon Musk amplified the controversy on June 5, 2025, posting on X that Trump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Musk made the claim during a public feud with Trump after leaving his role at DOGE. He posted or reposted criticisms of Trump's handling of the files more than 35 times.

CNN reported on July 23, 2025, that Bondi had briefed Trump in May that his name appeared in the Epstein files. The briefing included Deputy Attorney General Todd BlancheTodd Blanche. Two White House officials called it a routine briefing, but the timeline showed the administration's stance on releasing the files shifted after Trump learned he was named.

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York had been running an active investigation into Epstein and Maxwell's co-conspirators until January 2025. Prosecutors were then directed to transfer the case files to DOJ headquarters. Raskin later revealed that the investigation inexplicably ceased after that transfer, and the July 2025 memo formally closed the case.

Bondi's own prior statements contradicted the July memo. In February 2025, she told Fox News the Epstein client list was sitting on my desk right now to review. By July, the DOJ memo said no such list existed. Bondi had also claimed there were tens of thousands of videos of Epstein with children, a claim FBI Director Kash PatelKash Patel later appeared to walk back.

What you can do

1

civic action

Contact your representative about Epstein file transparency

The Epstein Files Transparency Act became law in November 2025, but Democrats have accused the DOJ of defying it by releasing only partial files with heavy redactions. Citizens can press their representatives to demand full compliance with the law.

I am calling to ask about the Epstein Files Transparency Act. The law requires the DOJ to release all Epstein files within 30 days. Has the DOJ fully complied? Will you support oversight hearings to ensure all documents are released without unnecessary redactions?

civic awareness

Track the Jack Smith Volume 2 report status

Volume 2 of Special Counsel Jack Smith's report on Trump's classified documents case has never been publicly released. Judge Aileen Cannon initially blocked it, and the DOJ under Bondi has continued to resist release. American Oversight and the Knight Institute are fighting in court for its disclosure.

3

civic awareness

Review the Epstein files yourself

The DOJ created a public Epstein Library at justice.gov/epstein where released documents are available in searchable, downloadable format. Citizens can review these files directly rather than relying on media summaries.
